Yes I agree that for the business it’s about the money and growth of the profit margin. What I was pointing to was the recent shift and them starting to understand that it wasn’t necessarily big, professional content that was creating success but everyday people.

The observation is that if Medium shifted to support an individual creator’s ability to community build that would make a huge impact.

The gamification being present already is interesting. I haven’t found much in the way of it, though I know Medium is notorious for not sharing much details.

I’ve started to see that at least at the moment, mass content creation as you point out or working hard towards publications are the most rewarded actions, which is a shame but hopefully that shifts some in the future as they consider individuals.

We are firmly in what’s being called the Experience Age after all, and for the most part the experience that’s desired is one of community.

Anyhow, thanks for such and invigorating conversation! There was lots to reflect on and I may shift my Medium practices due to your insights! 🙌🙌
